BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1651 E/O, with crowned-L countermark on cross, ex-Ponte, Mastalir Plate. S-P36; KM-19b; Cal-1490. 21.88 grams. Thin but only corroded on edge (probably from the Maravillas shipwreck of 1656), choice VF+ otherwise, with bold •P•E/O• to left and •8•E/O• to right of full shield, near-complete bold countermark on top arm of full cross, full but weaker date in legend, nicely toned. Pedigreed to the Luis R.
