BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1650 (modern 5) O, with crowned-script-a countermark (very rare) on cross, ex-Harley, ex-Ponte, Mastalir Plate. S-P35; KM-19b; Cal-1488. 26.87 grams. Broad-flan Fine with much peripheral flatness but only minimal surface corrosion (probably from the Maravillas shipwreck of 1656), full 0 of date (style with modern 5, dots between digits, and date at 11 to 1 o'clock), choice full countermark on right arm of full cross, lightly toned, hairline edge-split. Pedigreed to the Alan Harley Collection (Baldwin's auction of September 2011, lot 1857) and the Luis R.
