BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1650 O, mule of early obverse with new reverse, crowned-L countermark on cross, rare. S-P35; KM-19b; Cal-1488. 22.46 grams. Nearly full countermark in center of full cross (new style) with bottom half of 0 of date in legend, full shield with bold P-O to left and 8 to right (early style, Mastalir IA), old scratches at bottom, slightly thin from corrosion but nicely toned. With original certificate hand-signed by Joel Ruth and Lou Ullian. Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
