BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1649 Z, with crowned-L countermark on cross, ex-Capitana (1654), ex-McClung, ex-Ponte, Mastalir Plate. S-P34; KM-19a; Cal-1485. 26.91 grams. Very bold full 649 date outside of off-center cross with most of countermark visible in center, full but doubled and off-center shield with full P-Z to left, nearly corrosion-free Fine with some dark toning in crevices. From the Capitana (1654), pedigreed to the Rob McClung Collection (Sedwick Auction 15, lot 462) and the Luis R.
