BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, (1649) Z, with crowned-1652 countermark on cross (rare). S-P34; KM-19a; Cal-1485. 21.26 grams. Solid coin with wear and dark patchy toning but no visible corrosion (lightweight in any case), interesting shape with blunted point on edge, full cross with clear top of distinctive countermark in center, good full shield with bold denomination 8 to right, trace of assayer to left. Pedigreed to the Robert McClung Collection. Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
