BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1649 O/sR, rare, with crowned-L countermark on cross, ex-Capitana (1654), ex-Hudson, ex-Ponte, Mastalir Plate. S-P35; KM-19b; Cal-unl (Type 327). 26.73 grams. Choice, well-centered full cross and shield on a broad and practically corrosion-free flan with toning all over, Fine for wear, clear O/sR assayer (some old scrapes there) and bold full denomination oo, bold full 49 date, most of countermark near top. From the Capitana (1654), pedigreed to the Ponterio "Capitana" auction of April 1999 (lot 109), the Louis Hudson Collection (Sedwick Auction 6, lot 295), and the Luis R.
