BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1625 P, upper half of shield and quadrants of cross transposed, extremely rare.

S-P23; KM-unl (19a for type); Cal-unl (Type 327). 27.08 grams. Nice VF+ with very bold full 5 of date and mid-1620s style (flat lions, transpositions, ornament between mintmark and assayer), a date whose existence was doubted by Paoletti in light of a catastrophic dam break in 1624, this example with bold shield, assayer, and king's ordinal IIII in legend, nice full cross with a little doubling, dark gray toning in fields.
