BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 4 reales, Philip II, assayer R (Rincón) to left, ex-Atocha Research Collection, Plate Coin 10. S-P1; KM-4.2; Cal-518. 12.89 grams. Typically round flan with nearly full crown and legends (including ISPANIARVM without H), full shield and choice full cross with characteristic "dancing" (Segovia-style) lions, desirable first coinage of the Potosí mint (but attributed to Lima in error on tag and certificate since that was the prevailing theory at the time, based on Sellschopp), light surface corrosion only on parts of shield side, some traces of luster. Pedigreed to the Bill Barman Collection of Atocha RC Coins, with original Fisher tag and photo-certificate 85A-237274. Photocopy of original Atocha Research Collection catalog to be provided to winning bidder upon request. Recovered from: Atocha, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida
