BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 4 reales, 1652 E, transitional McLean Type I, ex-Ponte, ex-Ponterio, Janson Plate. S-P37; KM-A18; Cal-1109; Janson-19.1.1. 12.98 grams. Broad flan with some peripheral flatness but no corrosion, choice full crown above full pillars-and-waves, bold full shield (slightly off-center) with full O-E-52 and king's name to right, deep edge-split, nicely toned. Pedigreed to the Luis R. Ponte Collection and the Ponterio "La Capitana" auction of April 1999 (lot 241), also Plate Coin on page 70 of Carlos Janson's La Moneda Circulante en el Territorio Argentino (2020). Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
