BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 4 reales, 1652 E, post-transitional (McLean Transitional Type III), 1-PH-6 at top, retrograde denomination 4, ex-Ponte, Mastalir plate. S-P37a; KM-18; Cal-1112. 9.39 grams. Well-centered full pillars with bold retrograde 4 at top, clear date in legend, good but off-center cross, typically thin from corrosion but nicely toned. Pedigreed to the Luis R. Ponte Collection, Plate Coin on page 58 of Mastalir's The Great Transition at the Potosí Mint 1649-1653: The 1652 Transitional Minor Denominations: 4, 2, 1, and 1/2 Reales (2016). Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
