DCA-Tyre 242 variant (control marks; same obv. die); HGC 10, 357; DCA2 946. 13.95 grams. Laureate head of Melkart right, lion skin around neck / Eagle standing left on prow, palm frond in background; to left, AO (date) above club; Z to right, Phoenician B between legs. Lightly toned and well centered, an iconic piece of history. Shekels of Tyre were accepted as payment for the temple tax at Jerusalem, and are generally thought to have made up the "thirty pieces of silver" that Judas received for betraying Jesus.
