The upper half of this page from a German book of the period shows two teams of natives in canoes fighting a battle with bows and arrows, some of the unfortunates struggling in the water, their settlements and trees in the background, no color, perfect condition, the title of the book or chapter at the top of the page "Erfindung und Schiffarten", probably the impressions from the voyages of the English pirate Thomas Cavendish in 1587 and 1591.
