Santa Margarita gold bar #22, 282 grams, marked with fineness XIX: (19.5K) four times, owner / assayer FERNAND / ALONSO and at least two tax stamps, ex-Santa Margarita (1622). 3-1/2" x 1" x 1/4". A heavy but compact bar with a profusion of markings on top, the particularly bold finenesses each consisting of XIX in a box next to : in an adjoining box all stamped over some large, partial circular tax stamps and a full and clear cartouche with the names FERNAND[O] and ALONSO inside most likely referring to owners and/or assayers, with assayer's "bites" rather crudely chipped from both ends, the bottom of the bar neatly stamped with a Treasure Salvors seal (only seen on the earliest finds) and the date 1980 and inventory number 22. From the Santa Margarita (1622), with original photo-certificate #22-M-80 from 1982.
