MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer F, broken figure-8 for o above F, ex-Hubbard, ex-Woodside. S-M12; KM-43; Cal-664. 26.55 grams. Exceptionally choice full AU+ details on both sides including legends (a trifle doubled), in which you can clearly see the king's ordinal II and figure-8 spacers, bold full oMF with broken figure-8 for o above M in mintmark, superb old toning all over, no flatness at all, accompanied by NGC tag 6500520-003 AU 58. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection (Sedwick auction 33, with original lot-tag 456 and Hubbard's original tag) and the Rob Woodside Collection. Note: This coin was previously attributed to Philip III by Hubbard and NGC (and us), and shows that way in the printed catalog and on the NGC label, but we have attributed other examples correctly as Philip II.
