Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, 1626T, date at 3-4 o'clock, quadrants of cross transposed, very rare, ex-Panama hoard. S-P24; KM-19a; CT-464. 26.43 grams. Full and bold date (in erroneous position) with last digit doubled but followed by characteristic horizontal-line ornament outside full cross with distinctive "squashed" lions that ended in 1628, nice full shield with bold •P•T• to left, king's ordinal IIII, VF with traces of orange sediment. Pedigreed to the ca.-1629 "Panama hoard" and the Ponterio auction of June 2001 (lot #919, mis-described as 1629). NOTE: PHOTOS IN PRINTED CATALOG ARE OUT OF ORDER FOR LOTS 768-772.
