Lot of two Panama (France) silver and bronze medals, 1880, beginning of construction on the French Panama Canal, ex-Richard Stuart. Plowman-CM5.2 (silver), CM5.1 (bronze). 37.00 grams total Pair of medals engraved by famous French medalist Louis-Oscar Roty and issued to those who had purchased a certain amount of French Canal Company stock. Obverse depicts a woman bringing together personifications of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans; reverse displays text. Both medals are UNC; hairlines on the silver medal. Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart collection.
