(engraver) inside legend A SU LIBERTADOR SIMON BOLIVAR; reverse with arms inside legend EL PERU RESTAURADO EN AYACUCHO ANO DE 1824. Popular medal instituted by law in 1825 to commemorate the Battle of Ayacucho (1824), which finally ended Spanish rule in Peru.
